Today I drove 201.5 miles traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Ozona, Texas.
I am spending the night at the Holiday Inn Express in Ozona, Texas.
They upgraded my standard room to a king suite since I have platinum status with IHG.

Hello again folks, These days with sunny skies and temps around 80 are just getting boring. NOT! I was up late last night doing my emails and web site. So this morning I slept in and didn't check out of my San Antonio hotel until almost 11:00. That was pretty much as planned. Today was one of my scheduled light days. The only thing I had to do was drive 206 miles to Ozona, Texas. And since I was able to drive 85mph the whole way, it didn't take very long. When I got to town I filled the car with gas. Last time I filled up was Austin and the price was $3.69. Here in west Texas the price was $4.19.  A block up from the Sunoco station is the town square. Ozona is known as the biggest little town in the world.  Upon my arrival in Ozona I explored the Ozona Town Square. Prominently displayed at the south end of the square is the Davy Crockett Monument. Colonel Davy Crockett was a hero at the Alamo.  Ozona is the county seat of Crockett County which is named for Davy Crockett. Below is the Crockett County Courthouse which sits on the square.  In the middle of the square stands a monument dedicated to the pioneers of Crockett County.  Also sitting on the square is the Ozona National Bank. Convenient for me since I had several international banking transactions that needed to be completed post-haste.  Once my banking matters were completed I went next door and did a couple hours of shopping. I purchased some exquisite fiestaware which I have been wanting for years.  I felt a little out of touch with the goings on in Crockett County. Lucky for me the newspaper office was next door and I was able to pop in and talk with the editor and he was able to fill me in on all the hot topics here in town.  I was needing a couple new pistols. Would you believe there was a gun shop right next door? They had a fine selection of deadly weapons so I stocked up.  I was now getting tired and wanting to call it a day so I checked into my Holiday Inn Express just a couple blocks down the street. This evening I got my dinner from the Sonic you see behind my hotel in the picture below.  A lot more to do here in Ozona. You can't see everything in one day. I'll be here a few days.
