MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON MARCH 27, 2022
Hello friends and family,

This trip started off a bit wet as it rained most of the first two days. But since that time I haven't even seen a cloud. You won't find any again today for the fourth day in a row. Today the temperature got up to 92 degrees. It didn't feel that hot to me, there must have been no humidity. I started my day by driving 181 miles from Texarkana to Dallas. About 150 miles into my drive I had to pee so I stopped at Buc-ee's. These are huge country stores/gas stations along the interstates. They must have had at least a hundred pumps. There must have been that many stalls in the men's room as well.

It was about a half hour's drive to Dallas from there. My first stop was at the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. I planned to stop here for the nice views of the Dallas skyline. But unfortunately the sun was not positioned very well for my photos. But since I was here I fired up the ole scooter and drove across the bridge.

I had a 1:00pm ticket to go up Reunion Tower, that's when they open. It was only a little after 10:00am. I parked the car at Pioneer Plaza and scootered around downtown Dallas until it was time to go to the tower. Below is a picture from Pioneer Plaza. There are 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures scattered about the plaza. It is the second most visited tourist attraction in downtown Dallas.

A really neat spot in downtown Dallas is the AT&T Discovery District. I happened upon the area by accident. There were lots of people here enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning by playing giant connect 4 or admiring the numerous fountains and sculptures. This high-tech park has a giant screen on the side of it's building that projects changing nature scenes. Below is a picture but it does not do it justice.

Not far from here is City Hall. The whole time I was wandering around the plaza I kept expecting to see a Ewing walking around. If you watched the tv show Dallas they often like to meet here. Not much of a breeze today so the flags were pretty still on the giant flag poles.

Some of the prettiest scenes in downtown Dallas can be found from the fountain in front of City Hall.

I had a lot of good pictures today. If I show you all of them I'll be writing this email all night, so I'll move on to my 1:00 appointment at Reunion Tower. Below is a picture of the tower along with the Hyatt Regency.

Since the weather was perfect I got lots of good photos from on top of the 561 foot tower. I'll restrain myself and show you only two. Below is Dealey Plaza where President Kennedy was shot.

And of course I have to include the city skyline.

I finished up at Reunion Tower at 2:30 and drove 35 miles over to Fort Worth. Here I rode my scooter down Main Street. Fort Worth has a very pretty downtown. In the picture below you can see the impressive Chisolm Trail mural on the left. That is the Tarrant County Courthouse at the end of the street and the Wells Fargo Tower on the right.

I continued my journey down to the Convention Center. The picture below looks up Main Street again to the Tarrant County Courthouse. There is a JFK Tribute one block up on the right.

Next I headed up the road to my hotel, the Springhill Suites. I have a very nice suite overlooking the Fort Worth Stock Yards. After getting settled at the hotel I fired up the scooter again and headed to the stock yards which are only two blocks away.

This is a very popular place. You couldn't move for all the people and cars. I couldn't take a decent picture because there was always something in the way. I'll include one last picture of the Live Stock Exchange Building.

I picked up my dinner at the Shake Shack across from the Stock Exchange. I have never been to one before. It was delicious.

After dinner I worked on this email and my web site as I watched (well, really only listened) the Oscars. According to the forecast it's looking doubtful that I'll see a cloud again tomorrow.
