FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2022:

Today I drove 155 miles traveling from Memphis, Tennessee to Little Rock, Arkansas.

Twenty one minute video of my day in Little Rock, Arkansas.

I am spending the night at the Courtyard by Marriott on Litte Rock's west side.

I have a standard room with two queen beds.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON MARCH 25, 2022
Cordial greetings to you all,

It sure was a beautiful spring day today. A little cool this morning because the wind was blowing but this afternoon was picture perfect. There wasn't a cloud to be found in the sky all day. My day began with a two hour drive from Memphis to Little Rock, Arkansas. I then spent the rest of the day exploring "The Rock." My first stop was along the Arkansas River overlooking the Little Rock skyline.

Next I made my way over to Bill Clinton's Presidential Library. The area was under heavy construction and my navigation kept sending me down roads that were closed. So I had to find it on my own. Below is a picture of the building which overlooks the Arkansas River on it's north side.

The first thing you see when you walk in the door is his presidential limousine. Affectionately referred to as "The Beast."

Next I made my way up to the second floor where you find the main gallery. It consists of a 110-foot timeline of each of Clinton's years as President, as well as 14 alcoves featuring various events during Clinton's terms. Also on the second floor is the full-size replica of the Clinton-era Cabinet Room.

The third floor has various exhibits about life in the White House and a full-size replica of the Clinton-era Oval Office.

The grounds of the library are really nice along the Arkansas River. They'll be much nicer when the massive construction is done. After I exited the building I took a stroll across the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge.

I was going to ride my scooter from the library along the river to the downtown area but the construction made that impossible so I had to take the car. Below is the Junction Bridge which is directly behind the River Market pavilion. The park provided a frame for my postcard.

A little further down is the Old State House Museum which is the original state capitol building of Arkansas and the oldest standing state capitol building west of the Mississippi River.

Next I drove over to the current State Capitol Building. Bill Clinton served as governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992.

I went inside the building and visited the Capitol Rotunda. Those pictures never come out well. So instead I'll post this picture of the Capitol Dome with spring blossoms in full bloom on the capitol lawn.

I made a quick photo stop at the Central High School National Historic Site. A museum at an operating high school that was the site of pivotal desegregation events in 1957. As I said at the top, there was not a cloud in the sky all day as these pictures prove.

The Magnolia Mobil service station located across from the school was built in the 1920s, about the same time that Little Rock Central High School was built. Throughout the years, the building has served as a gas station, a hangout for students, a temporary “office” for reporters during the desegregation crisis and a National Historic Site visitor center.

I then made my way over to the west side of town and checked into another Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. It's almost identical to the one I stayed at in Memphis. Then the highlight of the day was visiting my favorite chicken restaurant for dinner, Slim Chickens. Below is me waiting in line at the drive-thru.

I watched Purdue lose to Saint Peter's as I was writing this. I hope to continue my trip tomorrow and write to you again tomorrow night.
