MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON MARCH 22, 2022
Howdy folks,

I am probably a glutton for punishment seeing as how my last couple of trips ended in disaster, but I have hit the road again and am giving it another shot. This morning just before 8:00 I left home and headed southwest. It was sunny and 74 degrees yesterday. That was certainly not the case today. It rained all day. My first stop today was in Spencer, Indiana. I took a quick picture of the Owen County Courthouse in the rain.

I continued my journey from there. About 30 soggy miles later I arrived in Bloomfield, Indiana. I grabbed a quick photo of the Greene County Courthouse by rolling down the window and taking it from the car.

About 3 miles south of Bloomfield there is a covered bridge over Plummer Creek. I drove across the bridge and snapped a couple of photos from the car as it was still raining.

My next 35 miles was mostly on Interstate 69. This is the first time I have traveled on this relatively new section of I-69. I exited the freeway in Washington, Indiana where I actually was able to get out of the car to photograph the Daviess County Courthouse.

20 miles west of Washington is Vincennes, my next stop. It actually stopped raining when I got to town. My first stop was at the Knox County Courthouse.

Next I made my way over to the banks of the Wabash River and visited the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park.

George Rogers Clark was the highest-ranking Patriot military officer on the northwestern frontier during the Revolutionary War. He is best known for his capture of Vincennes in 1779 which greatly weakened British influence in the Northwest Territory and earned Clark the nickname of "Conqueror of the Old Northwest".

The George Rogers Clark Memorial was a major feat of architectural engineering. Constructed between 1931 and 1933 it towers over the national park's landscape.

I was actually able to stroll all around the memorial and out to the center of the bridge to Illinois.

Below is the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier Proto-Cathedral which is next to the historic park.

The rain started back up on my 25 mile drive to Princeton , Indiana. I made a quick photo stop at the Gibson County Courthouse and was on my way.

Just under 30 miles south of Princeton I arrived at my final stop of the day, Evansville. The rain had been mostly light all day until I got here and it became quite a bit heavier. I like the mural below which is in downtown Evansville.

I made my way down to the Ohio River in downtown Evansville next. I took a short wet stroll along the Riverwalk. In the picture below that is the Ohio River on the left, downtown in the center and the Four Freedoms Monument on the right.

I took a drive down Main Street before leaving downtown and heading to the hotel.

When I got to my hotel I moved my clocks back an hour as Evansville is in the Central time zone. I'm listening to the Reds play the Dodgers from Spring Training in Arizona as I am writing this. Jonathan India just hit a home run to tie the game. I got my dinner from Logan's Roadhouse. It was supposed to be Teriyaki-Glazed Chicken but I didn't taste any teriyaki. It was good though.

Unlike my last two trips, so far it doesn't look like I'll have to drive back home tomorrow. According to the forecast it should be another wet day.
