MONDAY, APRIL 17, 2017:
Today I drove 342 miles from Flagstaff, Arizona to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The highlight of the day was my visit to Petrified Forest National Park.
After visiting the park I drove 215 miles to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Howdy folks, Today was the longest driving day of my trip. I drove just over 340 miles today. I love the car I am driving. The last time I put gas in the car was 500 miles ago back in Page and I still have 3/8 of a tank left. And that's with driving at 85mph for most of those miles. This morning I set out from Flagstaff. I drove east about 100 miles to the Petrified Forest National Park.  This isn't a very busy national park. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but I-40 literally goes right through the park so there is easy access. If you look close in the picture below you can see some of the petrified wood where the park gets its name.  My favorite part of the park is Blue Mesa.  The picture below is also from Blue Mesa.  In the picture below you can see a large piece of petrified wood in the foreground and that is Blue Mesa again behind the wood.  Next I drove through the Painted Desert part of the park. Below are the Tepees.  My last picture from the park was taken at Chinde Point.  I enjoyed my visit to the park. The weather was perfect as always. The rest of the day was all driving. It was 215 more miles to Albuquerque where I am spending the next two nights. I stopped in Gallup, New Mexico for lunch. I also lost an hour crossing into the mountain time zone.
