Greetings from sunny Aruba,
The sun shines 365 days a year here on the Dutch island of Aruba. This very small, but beautiful island, is located 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela. We didn't dock here until 12:30 this afternoon. The photo below is from the ship as we were sailing in.
The picture below was taken from the top of the Casabari rock formation looking out over the island of Aruba.
Below is a picture of me feeding the ostriches.
These birds are not native to this island. The only reason they are here is for the tourists. Below is a picture of the cacti which cover a large portion of this island.
Below is a picture of the north coast of the island.
After I took the picture above I decided I would walk out to the left of where that man is standing. BIG MISTAKE! This huge wave came roaring in and drenched me head to toe. Luckily it didn't damage my cameras. But it was a soggy ride back to the ship.
Below is the California Lighthouse on the west side of the island.
Below is the heart of downtown Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba. Our ship is docked a short distance from here.
And the final picture was taken from the ship shortly before we sailed away.
This was the last port of the cruise. We are now sailing north to Florida. We won't get there until Monday so we have a weekend at sea. It has been a very nice cruise. Except for some light rain in Panama City the weather has been great.
Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season. Unless something unexpected happens, I probably won't write again until I get off the ship in Florida.
More still to come,
Tim
