MONDAY, JUNE 7, 2021:

Today I drove 169 miles traveling from Port Huron, Michigan to Lansing, Michigan.

The fantastic weather over the weekend ended on Monday with mostly cloudy skies.
First thing this morning I drove 78 miles to Flint, Michigan.

From Flint it was only a twenty mile drive to the charming town of Frankenmuth.
Watch the video below to experience this neat little town.

FRANKENMUTH, MICHIGAN
In this 23 minute video I explore this quaint Bavarian-style community.

After leaving Frankenmuth I hopped on Interstate 69 and drove 74 miles to Lansing.
Before retiring to my Courtyard Hotel I visited the state capitol building.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JUNE 7, 2021
Pleasant greetings,

It was a beautiful sunrise in Port Huron, Michigan. I sure hated to leave my beautiful room at the Doubletree there.

After departing the hotel I drove about 70 miles to Flint, Michigan. The sunny skies from the weekend were gone and showers forecast for mid afternoon. The photo below was taken in downtown along historic Saginaw Street.

On the north side of Flint I visited Stepping Stone Falls. Here the Flint River goes over the dam in a scenic display. I filled up several jugs with water for my drinking pleasure.

Twenty miles north of Flint is the charming town of Frankenmuth. I drove under this arch on my way into town.

With its deep Bavarian roots, this diminutive city looks like a German town and offers everything you'd expect from one, including Bavarian shops, food and architecture.

I drove across this wooden bridge on my way into the Bavarian village.

I was going to take a cruise on this riverboat but it was threatening rain so I decided to skip it.

I crossed the bridge over the Cass River and entered River Place.

Michigan's Little Bavaria is a German-themed outdoor shopping mall.

This is really a neat little place. Lots of unique shops at River Place.

Nicely situated by the river it is an enjoyable walk through the many shops.

I enjoyed my visit here very much.

Also in Frankenmuth is Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. It's open 361 days per year and it is the largest Christmas store in the world. The place is mammoth.

Below is a closer look at the large store with its many Christmas decorations.

The giant Santa below is just one of the many decorations scattered throughout the massive parking lot.

Next it was a 75 mile drive to Lansing. The skies got darker as I went. It looked clear enough upon my arrival for a spin around the State Capitol. The statue is Austin Blair, War Governor of Michigan.

The first state capitol was in Detroit, the original capital of Michigan, and was relocated to Lansing in 1847.

Below is the Lansing skyline as seen from the State Capitol.

Below is looking down Michigan Avenue from the Capitol. My hotel is a half mile down the street on the right.

I'm now checked into a Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Lansing. You can see my hotel on the left in the picture below. That's the State Capitol and the end of Michigan Avenue.

The hotel has only been open four months. I have a very comfortable and modern room. The TV in the room is huge.

We've had off and on rain showers since my arrival. I got wet moving my car to the parking lot behind the hotel.

I wasn't feeling very energetic tonight so I just ate some food from my cooler for dinner. I'll sign off now and wish you a pleasant evening.
