SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2021:

Today I drove 230 miles traveling roundtrip to Cleveland from Toledo.

On a beautiful Saturday morning I drove 115 miles into Cleveland, Ohio.
I started my day on the Cleveland Public Square and then made my way down the Mall and over to waterfront.
I toured the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and then took a boat cruise on the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie.
I ended my day with a visit to the 42nd floor Terminal Tower Observation Deck.
You can see it all by watching the video below.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JUNE 5, 2021
Cordial greetings everyone,

Unlike yesterday I waited for the sun to come up before I set out for the day. It was a less than two hour drive to Cleveland where I spent the day. Below is from the dash cam as I was arriving in downtown.

I parked my car next to the Cleveland Public Square and set out on my scooter. In the picture below, Terminal Tower looms over the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument on the Public Square.

After leaving the Public Square I circled around the Fountain of Eternal Life.

It sure was a beautiful morning. Not a cloud in the sky and about seventy degrees. It was nice all day but it did get a little warm this afternoon. Below is Key Tower which stands 57 stories high and is Ohio's tallest building.

From here I proceeded down The Mall. At it's northern end you get a nice view of Lake Erie and FirstEnergy Stadium where the Browns play football.

The Free Stamp in Willard Park is inarguably the world's largest office stamp. The aluminum and steel structure is 49 feet long, 28 feet high and weighs 70,000 pounds.

I continued on my way to the waterfront along Lake Erie and arrived at Voinovich Bicentennial Park.

The picture below was taken next to the one above. It is of one of about a half dozen Cleveland Script signs that are strategically placed throughout the city.

Next I arrived at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. I had a 10:00am entrance ticket. They have been metering the entries since covid.

Parked outside the hall is Johnny Cash's decked out tour bus.

The hall of fame was ok but not really my thing. If seeing the clothes and such of these rock stars interests you then by all mean pay this place a visit. It is a very unique building though.

Below is an Elton John exhibit.

I only spent about ninety minutes inside the museum. I had a noon boat cruise scheduled and had to leave. Below are The Flats as seen from the boat as we were sailing down the Cuyahoga River. In the picture below you can see the boardwalk in front of the high-end restaurants in this popular area.

Below we are approaching the Center Street Bridge. That is the Detroit-Superior Bridge above.

The Center Street Bridge is a swinging bridge. We watched the bridge swing around so we could pass through. Below is another picture with the bridge swung around.

The narrator on board thought this was a fabulous photo opportunity. Terminal Tower perched between the bridges.

After leaving the Cuyahoga River we headed out into Lake Erie. We passed the Cleveland Harbor Main Entrance Lighthouse.

There were many nice views of the Cleveland skyline along with a nice cool breeze which felt good as the temperature approached 90.

After the cruise I proceeded through town back over to Terminal Tower.

The Terminal Tower Observation Deck has been closed since covid. That is until today. For just a few hours per day, on Saturdays and Sundays only, they are permitting a few timed entry tickets to go to the top of the tower. You have to book in advance, no walk-ins. I was lucky to get a ticket. So I went to the 42nd floor for nice views of the city. Below is the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame as seen from up there. The boat you see behind the building is the one I just got off of a half hour ago.

Below I'm looking out past Key Tower toward Lake Erie.

The Huntington Bank Building is a 45-story skyscraper that is 658 feet tall and located on the east side of Public Square which can be seen down below.

Looking south from from Terminal Tower you can see Progressive Field which is the ballpark of the Cleveland Indians (now the Guardians) of Major League Baseball and, together with Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, is part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex.

In my final picture from the top of Terminal Tower you can see the Cuyahoga River where I was boating just minutes ago.

Below I'm making my way back to my car. In the center of the picture is the Old Stone Church which is the oldest building on Public Square.

After spending the day in Cleveland I returned my Comfort Inn hotel room in Maumee for a second night. It's a pretty generic room, but I got it for free so I won't complain.

As I prepare my daily email I'm listening to the Reds play the Cardinals on SiriusXM as I write this. They are winning so far. It's 5-2 going into the ninth. I also brought me back some dinner from the Outback Steakhouse.

Until tomorrow,

Tim
