LITTLE RIVER CANYON
Fifty-two minute video of Alabama's Little River Canyon National Preserve and Noccalula Falls.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON OCTOBER 26, 2019
Hello folks,

I left Chattanooga this morning at 8:00 and it was still raining. Within a couple minutes I crossed into Georgia. And about twenty minutes after that I was in Alabama. There is a really scenic area in northeast Alabama, the Little River Canyon National Preserve. I explored that area this morning. It was raining the whole time but it was only a very light mist when I was out of the car. My first stop was at the Little River Falls Observation Deck.

I then drove south on the scenic rim drive. The first overlook was less than a mile down the river from the falls.

Located on top of Lookout Mountain near Fort Payne, Alabama the 15,288-acre preserve protects what is sometimes said to be the nation's longest mountaintop river, the Little River. The picture below is a wider view from the same place as the one above.

I was delayed a few minutes while they cut up a fallen tree that was blocking the road.

Below is a picture of the canyon from one of the numerous overlooks.

I like the picture below. You can see the scenic road I was traveling on.

And the picture below is Grace's High Falls. There was this thin little cloud that parked itself in front of the falls partially blocking the view. If it weren't for all the rain the past couple days the falls probably wouldn't even be there.

Next I drove 37 miles to Gadsden where I visited Noccalula Falls which cascades over 90 feet into the Black Creek ravine. {Click HERE to watch my video of Noccalula Falls.}

After that it was a very boring 150 mile drive to Columbus, Georgia where I am spending the night. It rained the entire way, usually very light rain but it never stopped for a minute. I'm staying at a Candlewood Suites here.

That's it for today. Maybe it will stop raining tomorrow.
