NOVEMBER  1989

We hit the road Sunday, November 19th around 6:00pm.
We spent the night at the Hilton in Columbus, Ohio.

We continued our journey the next morning as we drove to
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We awoke the next morning and
walked all around the historical district of the city.
Pictured above is Independence Hall. Built in 1732, the
Declaration of Independence & Constitution were signed here.

We spent two nights in the city of brotherly love.
Above is the Philadelphia skyline at night.

It was back on the road on Wednesday, November 22, 1989.
We made a breif stop at the Capitol in Trenton, New Jersey
before heading for the big apple. The above picture is of the
World Trade Center from Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

Next we went out to the Statue of Liberty. It was through
the Holland Tunnel into Manhattan next, where we checked
into our hotel, the New York Hilton at Rockafeller Center.

It was a short cab ride down to the Empire State Building
next. Where I took the spectacular picture above.

The next day was Thanksgiving. The city got about four
inches of snow over night. We began the day by going to
the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We watched the parade
on Broadway, across from the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

After the parade we drove down to the World Trade Center.
The above picture of the Empire State Building was
taken from the observation deck on the 107th floor.
We walked over to Wall Street next. It was
easy to get around, since it was Thanksgiving
lower Manhattan was a virtual ghost town.

Took this quick picture from atop the Empire State
Building. It was quite cold and windy up there.

We spent a few minutes watching the skaters
at the ice rink at Rockafeller Center.

Pictured above is Radio City Music Hall.

On Friday morning we visited Grants Tomb before crossing
the Hudson River on the George Washington Bridge.

Atlantic City was next on our agenda. The picture above
was taken from our hotel room at Bally's on the Boardwalk.

The next day we crossed Delaware Bay on the Cape May Ferry.
The sunset above was captured from the middle of the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We spent the night in Norfolk.

Our first stop on Sunday, November 26th was
historical Williamsburg, Virginia.

We ate lunch in Richmond, Virginia. The Virginia
state capitol building is pictured above.

We ending the day in Charlottesville, Virginia
with a tour of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.

We spent our last night in Charleston, West Virginia.
The capitol building is pictured above.

Get a much better look at the Big Apple on my 2008 and 2010 trips.
