Hello Folks,
It was another beautiful day in Arizona today. This morning I set out from Kingman, Arizona and drove 170 miles to Jerome. Shortly before getting to Jerome the road goes up into the mountains. Below is a picture of the winding road shortly before getting to Jerome.
Jerome is a town in the Black Hills which was founded in the late 19th century on Cleopatra Hill overlooking the Verde Valley, it is more than 5,000 feet above sea level. It's on State Route 89A between Sedona and Prescott. Supported in its heyday by rich copper mines, it was home to more than 10,000 people in the 1920s. But today's population is less than 500.
Below is a closer look at this town built into the hillside.
Below is the view from Jerome. If you look real close you can see the red rocks in Sedona up ahead.
After I left Jerome it was a 35 mile drive to Sedona where I am spending the next two nights.
I'm staying at the Best Western Inn of Sedona.
I didn't explore Sedona much today. It's not that big of an area and I am going to be here all day tomorrow. But it is a beautiful area as you can tell from the picture above. More to come.
