The first thing I did was drive into Washington and check into the JW Marriott Hotel.
This is a four star hotel conveniently located on Pennsylvania Avenue just a couple blocks from the White House.

After getting settled in my accomodations I set out on a walking tour of Washington D.C.

My first stop was the World War II Memorial.
This beautiful memorial was not here the last time I was in Washington.

It was a fairly nice Saturday afternoon, a little hazy, temps in the mid eighties.
This is looking east across the memorial toward the Washington Monument.

Walking west down the mall from the WWII Memorial, the next stop is the Lincoln Memorial.

My favorite memorial honors our nation's sixteenth president.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2005:

On Friday I traveled Eurostar to Paris. The trip only takes two and a half hours tunneling under the English Channel enroute.

Unfortunately it was a dismal day in Paris. I took a one hours cruise down the River Seine.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2005:

On Tuesday it was a long four and a half hour train ride to Edinburgh, Scotland.
The picture above was taken from the train window about 50 miles south of Edinburgh.

Although the train ride was long, it was well worth it, I LOVE THIS CITY!
