JULY  1991


Dan and I began our vacation on Sunday afternoon, July 7, 1991.
We spent the first night of our trip in Columbus, Ohio.

It was on into New York State on Monday. We made stops in
Erie, Pennsylvania and Rochester, New York before ending
the day in Syracuse where we spent the night.

Early Tuesday morning we made a quick stop at the
Mohawk River and Barge Canal just east of Utica.

Next we moved on to Cooperstown, New York.
The picture above is from the middle of main street
in downtown Cooperstown. We very much enjoyed our
visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Doubleday Field,
and Lake Otsego, all located in Cooperstown.

After a delicious lunch at a local Cooperstown restaurant
it was off to Ticonderoga, New York. The above picture
is taken from the summit of Mount Defiance, overlooking
Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains of Vermont.
We spent the night in Burlington, Vermont.

We spent the next morning in Stowe Vermont.
While in Stowe we road on the Stowe Gondola to the
top of the mountain and walked around the town
itself where the above picture was taken.

After Stowe it was on to Franconia Notch, New Hampshire.
We enjoyed a number of activities in this tourist area.
We rode the Cannon Mountain Tramway and took in the
panoramic view of the White Mountains from the summit.

We also took a gander of The Profile, also known as on a the
Old Man of the Mountains and the Great Stone Face, mountain side
above Profile Lake. We had fun crawling through the rocks at Lost River.

We also rode on the Loon Mountain Gondola (pictured above) on our
way to North Conway, New Hampshire where we spent the night.

The next morning before leaving New Hampshire we visited
Glen Ellis Falls and the Wildcat Mountain Gondola.

It was on to Maine next.
Above is the state capitol in Augusta.



We spent the night in beautiful Bar Harbor.



This shot was taken from the summit of Cadillac
Mountain in Acadia National Park.

We spent most of the next day on the high seas.
We crossed the Bay of Fundy on the M.V. Bluenose.



Above is Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where we got off of
the Bluenose Ferry and immediately drove to Halifax.



We spent two nights in Halifax. Pictured above is
downtown. It rained the whole time we were there
which curtailed our outdoor activities.

The next day we drove to the east shore of Nova Scotia
where the sun came back out, which made for a scenic
ferry ride between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John,
New Brunswick (pictured above).

The next morning we drove from Saint John to Fredericton.

After lunch we headed north, our first stop was in
Hartland, New Brunswick where we drove across the
world's longest covered bridge. Later in Grand Falls
we enjoyed the falls in Gorge Park.

We then spent the night in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec. Our hotel overlooked
the St. Lawrence Seaway, which we would cross the next morning by ferry.



After spending the night in Chicoutimi, Quebec, we drove
to Roberval where we visited Val-Jalbert Historic Village.

After leaving Val-Jalbert we drove to Quebec City.
While in Quebec the weather was very hot, about 100
degrees. We took in a number of activities in Quebec.
The changing of the guard at the Citadel, a boat trip up
the St. Lawrence Seaway, Grand Canyon of Ste-Anne Falls,
and Montmorency Falls (pictured above).



Quebec is one of my favorite cities in the world.
We stayed at the prestigiouse le Chateau Frontenac,
which is pictured above. We had a great time watching
the many street performers on Dufferin Terrace located
just outside the hotel's front door. From there it was
an easy funiculaire ride down to Old Lower Town and it's
many unique shops and eateries.

It was off to Montreal next. The above shot of the
Montreal skyline was taken from Mont-Royal Park.



Above is St-Joseph's Oratory.
We also rode the funiculaire to the top of the
tower at Olympic Park.

Ottawa was next. Pictured above is the
magnificent central Parliament Building.



The picture above was taken from the Ottawa River
during our boat tour.

We spent the next night in Kingston, Ontario.



The above picture was taken from our boat tour on
Lake Ontario looking back on the Toronto skyline.



We spent the night at the Skydome.
From our two-level suite we were able to watch
the baseball game right from our room.

We spent our last night in Windsor, Ontario.
