Contestants were chosen from the studio audience
and attempted to perform various stunts within a
given time limit, depending on the difficulty of
the stunt. What made Beat the Clock a hit were the
stunts themselves, which were full of whipped
cream, custard pies, and exploding balloons.
Bud Collyer also hosted the daytime version of Beat
the Clock from September 1957 to January 1961.

A syndicated version aired 1969 to 1975 with
hosts Jack Narz and Gene Wood. And in September
of 1979 through February 1980 Monty Hall hosted
this last version on CBS daytime television.
